Responsibility and accountability for shore tour (excursion) program and onboard cruise sales across the brands in the Corporation which is the largest cruise operator in the Australia/NZ/South Pacific region (80% market share). Responsibilities include tour product development, risk management, procurement, sales and operations.
Develop destinations for new itineraries (cruise product), both greenfield and somewhat established, by growing organisational capability and infrastructure in partnership with federal, state and local governments as well as at local community level and with small business partners.
Michael has enjoyed a varied, dynamic and progressive tourism career.
After completing a bachelor of business at Southern Cross University in 1997 Michael hit the road, working at various jobs in Canada, UK and Sweden.
These roles included Concierge, Food and Beverage Service, Resorts and Guiding (Back country snow experiences and River Fishing – BC, Canada).
On returning to Australia he worked at the Sheraton Four Points in Sydney before joining BridgeClimb as a climb leader.
Michael then moved into product development and delivery for Grand Circle Corporation, EF Tours and Go Ahead Vacations.
In 2009 he became Destination Manager at Carnival Australia.
His responsibilities include managing shore excursions for P&O Cruises, Princess Cruises and Carnival Cruise Lines.
He also develops new destinations/product in ANZ, South Pacific and Indonesia for Carnival Group brands.
