René Trépanier has worked in the tourism industry for thirty years, having initially held the positions of General Manager of the Atlantic Salmon Interpretation Centre, President of the Groupe Imaginature (tourism consultants) and Director of Public Relations for Tourisme Bas-Saint-Laurent/Gaspésie, an organization that focuses on international marketing.
He is one of the founders of Québec maritime, where he was in charge of marketing for five years.
For five years he was the creative director and General Manager of Fêtes du Québec maritime, a major event that pays tribute to the maritime community. He was also the President and CEO of Marée Haute sur la baie, an event designed to increase awareness of the St. Lawrence’s maritime heritage.
Since October 2005 he has held the position of Executive Director of Cruise the Saint Lawrence and was the Chairman of Cruise Canada New England Alliance in 2012.
Recently, René was honoured with the 2015 Cruise Award by the American Association of Port Authorities (AAPA). He is broadly recognized as the face of marketing for Destination Saint Lawrence and the driving force behind the cruise industry success of the nine member ports of call spread out along on this vast expanse of commercial waterway in Canada.
